4D is a French software company whose platform lets developers build business applications by focusing on the data model and business rules rather than infrastructure. The 4D environment combines an integrated relational database, an object-oriented language with the ORDA data layer, form and interface editors, and a server for deploying client-server applications on macOS and Windows. 4D Qodly Pro adds browser-based web interfaces built inside the same project, and components such as 4D Write Pro and 4D View Pro bring word processing and spreadsheet features into applications. The platform is used by in-house developers, independent software publishers and education, through a partner program, regular feature releases and long-term support versions.
