About Epic Systems

Epic Systems develops electronic health record software used by academic medical centers, community hospitals, independent practices, children's organizations, payers, rehab centers, urgent care and other care settings. Its software gives each patient a single medical record shared across care teams, covering clinical documentation, ordering, scheduling, billing and revenue cycle. Patients access their records, appointments and messages through the MyChart portal and app. Epic also runs Cosmos, a research dataset built from de-identified records, and supports interoperability with other systems. The company is privately held, employee-owned and develops its software in-house without acquisitions. It serves health organizations in the United States and in several other countries.
