About Shizen

Shizen is software for manufacturers that want to run their daily performance management digitally instead of on paper boards and spreadsheets. It structures the information and communications exchanged on the shop floor, so that problems raised by a team are recorded, assigned and followed until they are solved. The stated aim is to help production teams solve problems faster and to support continuous improvement across a plant. It is used by industrial companies, from operators and team leaders to plant management.

A Game-Changer for Daily Performance Management

Shizen has completely transformed the way daily Top 5 meetings are conducted at Onet Logistique. By digitalizing the traditional Top 5 process, it brings structure, visibility, and efficiency to operational management while remaining incredibly simple and intuitive to use. One of Shizen’s greatest strengths is its ease of adoption. The user interface is clear, visual, and user-friendly, enabling teams to get up and running quickly with minimal training. Another outstanding feature of Shizen is its integrated Gemba Walk and Problem-Solving modules, which significantly enhance communication and organizational learning. The Gemba tool enables leaders and teams to capture observations directly in the field, assign actions instantly, ensure systematic follow-up, and monitor KPIs. This creates a seamless flow of information between operational teams and management, helping issues to be identified and resolved more quickly. The Problem-Solving module is equally impressive. Shizen is fully customizable and includes all the essential quality tools for root cause analysis and problem-solving, such as Ishikawa (Fishbone Diagram), 5 Whys, and other structured methodologies. These tools enable teams to investigate issues effectively, identify root causes, implement sustainable corrective actions, and standardize best practices across the organization. Over time, this approach creates a valuable and searchable knowledge base, helping the organization prevent recurring issues, accelerate onboarding, and leverage collective expertise across sites and departments. The platform’s API integration capabilities are also extremely user-friendly. Shizen can be easily connected to other digital tools and business applications used on a daily basis, enabling seamless data exchange and process automation. This interoperability helps create a more connected digital ecosystem, reduces manual data entry, improves data consistency, and enhances overall operational efficiency. Finally, the support provided by the Shizen team is outstanding. They are always available to help us develop our skills and maximize the value we get from the platform. Moreover, they actively listen to our feedback and lessons learned, continuously improving the solution to better meet users’ needs. Special thanks to Pierre for his exceptional support, responsiveness, and contribution. Shizen is much more than a digital Top 5 board; it is a true Operational Excellence enabler. Its combination of simplicity, effectiveness, and powerful management capabilities makes it an essential tool for organizations looking to strengthen performance management, increase team engagement, and accelerate continuous improvement. Highly recommended for any company embracing Lean and Operational Excellence principles.

An essential tool for our daily management and continuous improvement

We initially chose Shizen to digitalize our management rituals, and the tool has more than met our needs. We use it every day, and it is always a pleasure working with their team, who do everything they can to find the best way to answer our needs whenever we reach out to them! The problem-solving tools (Ishikawa and 5 Whys) — built-in, dynamic and easy to use — were quickly adopted by everyone to trace root cause analysis. The links between problems, causes and actions ensure that our problem-solving processes are clearly understood and make it easier to share best practices. The tool's complete customization allows us to adapt our dashboards quickly and intuitively to any use case. Each team builds its own view with its own indicators, at its own level: the operator monitors their line, the shop floor manager their area, and the management the entire site — all without duplicate data entry. Data flows up automatically, and information flows down just as easily. Our action plans are managed there on a daily basis, with the ability to escalate quickly, without any loss of information or time. The tool is simple, and adoption was very fast regardless of each person's level of computer literacy. The ability to create your own problem-solving modules also makes it possible to match any company's standards (8D, A3, DMAIC, etc.). Our entire company has adopted it, and it has become essential to our daily management and to the effective, sustainable deployment of continuous improvement.
