Open-source search and analytics engine, forked from Elasticsearch and Kibana, for logs, site search and vector search.

About OpenSearch

OpenSearch is an open-source suite for searching and analysing large volumes of data, released under the Apache 2.0 licence. It began as a fork of Elasticsearch and Kibana started by Amazon Web Services and is now governed by a foundation under the Linux Foundation. The suite consists of OpenSearch Core, a distributed search engine built on Apache Lucene, OpenSearch Dashboards for visualising and querying data, and Data Prepper, a server-side collector that transforms data before indexing. A vector engine supports semantic search and generative AI applications, and plugins add security, alerting and observability. It is used by engineering teams for log analytics, application search and monitoring, self-hosted or as a managed service.
