Microsoft Teams brings a company's conversations, meetings and shared files into one application. Teams talk in chats and channels organised by team and topic, hold video meetings and webinars with recordings, and can use it as a phone system with Teams Phone. Documents are co-edited in Word, Excel and PowerPoint without leaving the application, and Copilot adds meeting summaries and AI assistance. It is included in most Microsoft 365 plans and works with Outlook, SharePoint and OneDrive, which makes it the default choice of companies that already run on Microsoft 365.

It’s particularly strong for organizations already using Microsoft 365: meetings, Outlook calendars, Office files, SharePoint, and enterprise administration fit together well. It can genuinely function as a central workplace hub. The main downside is complexity. The interface can feel cluttered, notifications can become noisy, and the distinction between chats, channels, teams, meetings, and shared files isn’t always intuitive. Performance and reliability have improved considerably over the years, but the experience can still feel heavier than simpler tools like Slack. For a Microsoft-centric company, though, I’d bump it to 8–8.5/10 because the integrations make it much more valuable than Teams considered in isolation.
